Are you passionate about gardening, growing food, homesteading, land stewardship, food forest design and food security?
Are you looking to get connected to land where you can build something long term, but land prices are out of reach?
Are you interested in co-creating with others in community?
Are you interested in living in paradise, and stewarding and caretaking a piece of beautiful land to flourish to its full potential?
We are open to new members with the right fit.
We are a small group of passionate individuals who are dedicated to improving the land we live on and striving towards long-term food security.
Please understand that this is not just a ‘place to live’ but a commitment that comes with a number of responsibilities to make it work.
Together, we have the responsibility to maintain and improve the current infrastructure used by all, to take care of the trees, berries, and crops that have been planted, and continue the legacy of a food forest garden for future generations.
This is not a ‘rental’, it is a membership in a beautiful project where all need to show up as invested owners, take care and pride in what is being created, and take responsibility to make it work. There is not a landlord to call when things break, or someone who will take care of all the things that others don’t.
Membership Fees are not ‘rent’ - the monthly fees go towards all of the various operating costs, repairs and maintenance, farm and garden supplies, tools and equipment, feeding the work traders that make it possible, and covering the agricultural lease and existing infrastructure, with a fund for improvements and emergencies.
It is also not a ‘work trade’ where you trade fixed hours for a place to stay and fixed amenities. More hours may be required seasonally, less at other times, emergencies may need an extra hand at inconvenient hours (like frozen pipes in the winter, or a leak to fix, a tent caterpillar infestation threatening the orchard, etc.).
Time spent also depends on how efficiently we take care of certain things, how well we plan and do a job, and how we enjoy what we are doing.
The point is that we share the responsibilities as best we can, so that it is not too much for any one person, and we can all live and enjoy this beautiful piece of land.
So there is flexibility to take trips and rely on others to keep things going, and cover for them when they need to go away.
